For the past fourteen weeks, we’ve celebrated The Spine of Night with Spine Summer — a journey through the improbable, chaotic, and deeply human process of creating a rotoscoped fantasy epic. Along the way, we returned to warehouses filled with cardboard armor, the long nights of animation, the camaraderie of friends who became armies on screen, and the music forged from springs and steel. At its heart, though, Spine Summer has always been about the people who built this world from scratch. So for our final post, we sat down with co-director Morgan Galen King to reflect on what the film taught him, and what comes next.
