From dusty VHS shelves and battered paperbacks to seven years animating The Spine of Night nearly alone, Morgan Galen King has spent his life forging stories from the shadows.
Thank you! The Prism of Death is in a bit of a holding pattern as we wait to see if we can get the funding to work with a larger team (so it doesn't take 7 years to draw, this time!). But it's written, designed, there 15 minutes of animatics for the opening scenes, and an animation style proof of concept trailer finished, so it's pretty much ready to go whenever it's got funding in place.
Thank you for your response and for keeping a genre of filmmaking alive that has fascinated me ever since I stumbled upon Heavy Metal as a child in the early 90s. I wish you the best of luck in funding your project and look forward to viewing future output.
Just to say, I really appreciate the film that you made. I bought it immediately after seeing a clip. I thought I was all alone in my love for Bakshi's LOTR lol. I saw it with my older brother during its original theatrical run, and I own it on DVD. The Spine of Night sits right next to it on my shelf, along with Fire and Ice.
If any of you folks have any other additional questions I'd be happy to answer them down here, too.
I'm a huge fan of your work. How are things progressing with The Prism of Death?
